    Description

Offering what many microphone collectors consider to be one of thee most attractive and beloved American microphones ever made. Manufactured by a company near the heart of the world's entertainment capitol, Pasadena, California, offering this
    American Microphone Company Model D9AT
    Dynamic Microphone
, nicknamed "The Skyscraper" from the late 1940's. A rare mic in collector's circles, and even more rare to find them in good
    working
condition producing rich full-ranging audio and strong output gain. The ribs are overall in good shape, some mild warps on the backside (and we recommend against trying to straighten them as they can crack.) The yoke is aluminum with the 2 original side thumbscrews. The American Microphone Company maker's badge is clean and bright, and the mic has no loose or rattling parts.
A short 2' cable with male XLR plug is
    included
, as is the heavy iron desk stand.

"The American D9AT was an early directive microphone, from 1938. It had two dynamic elements, which created a more sensitive microphone with stronger output and therefore produced a better signal. It was also rugged for public address use, immune to weather conditions and very useful for in-studio broadcasts, because of its wide dynamic range. The American company advertised the D9AT as the mic with 30% more gain than others. The vertical Art Deco design resembles the huge, stylish skyscrapers of the Thirties that dominated the skyline of New York and other major U.S. cities. In many regards, the 'look' of the American Company microphones was often way ahead of the competition."
