-1977 model. Excellent player ! Olds name brand tried and true... a solid student beginner trumpet for decades !! I have gone thru this trumpet extensively, cleaned, lubricated, checked all corks, pads, springs, valves are fast, all slides free. There are no loose joints or braces. This trumpet is an awesome tank .. was designed and built to last.
-Many professional players have an Olds Ambassador as a backup trumpet. Yes ... they play that well! Back in the day Olds utilized the same exact valves on their entire lineup including the professional models. ( CarolBrass also does this ). From the Olds Central Website: Many people feel the Olds Ambassador remains to be the best student trumpet EVER built, rivaling many modern professional trumpets! It is a very open and responsive horn with great intonation, excellent tone, and fantastic valves. One custom trumpet builder indicated he always starts with a donor Ambassador trumpet from OLDS as he finds the valves to be the most reliable, trouble free, smooth playing valve section ever made. - I have test played this horn for several hours. Wow ... you will not be disappointed. What a player ! Great tone, intonation, slotting. I guarantee you will get a great playing horn. That said, it has scratches in the lacquer, as well as some lacquer wear, but NO bends, NO dings, and NO dents! Not being all banged up, it presents well, looks pretty decent.
