Description
This is a museum quality 1910's liftarm lighter. Perfect condition, working well, but out of petrol and firestone. Firestone closing screw cap is missing, see last photo. The mechanism and the main body is not sterling silver, but it has a built in sterling silver case with outstanding handcarved flower patterns. Exceptional silversmith artwork. Two marks at the silver part (see photos),also has been acid tested. No damage, no repair, excellent condition.

Short history of lighters: There were no lighters with flint wheels in the 19th century. Baron Karl Auer, who invented what we commonly call a lighter flint, got his patent in 1903 and didn t set up the factory to manufacture the stuff until 1907.
